Opening Weekend Debuts, Shocks and Wonders

The Barclays Premier League (BPL) opening weekend had finally arrived. With some new Debuts. Shocks and Wonders the opening weekend has already seen

  • 9 matches played
  • 26 goals scored
  • 7 clean sheets
  • 27 yellow cards
  • 2 red
Debuts
With the transfer market still open and booming we have seen some familiar faces at new team and new faces all together. One of those was Miguel Michu that helped his side Swansea City to a very comfortable win over QPR with the first goal for the 2012/2013 season coming just 8 min into the game. Micheal Laudrup from Swansea also made his very first BPL as a manager whilst Former assistant manager at Liverpool Steve Clarke saw his side Wes Brom take down his former club down 3-0

Shocks
Some of  the shocks would have to be Wes Brom beating Liverpool 3-0. Swansea recorded their first ever victory against QPR away in 92 years when they outplayed QPR 5-0. New Comers Southampton gave current Champions Man City a Scare when they narrowly lost 3-2 after leading 1-2. and lastly Arsenal failed to score to Sunderland as they surely missed Robin Van Percy (RVP)

Wonders
The Wonders of the opening weekend we saw an amazing goal from Wes Brom's Zoltan Gera that opened the Scoring for their 3-0 win over Liverpool. http://QiHohqOGQcg

With one game left Man U vs Everton. The opening weekend surely set of to a great start and did not fail to entertain Fans. Nobody knows what lies ahead but one thing remains clear that this looks like to be the best    season yet.

  1. Swansea beating QPR 5-0 is not something I think anyone thought would happen. I'm surprised because QPR made a few signings to strengthen them up. Even though I would've picked Swansea for the win but 5-0 is crazy. I am SO glad that Everton beat Man Utd. Barcelona won, Real Madrid drew, Man Utd lost now Kaizer Chiefs needs to win tonight then weekend was great for the teams I support and terrible for the teams I don't like.

  2. Yes a 5-0 trashing of QPR was not expected. I am happy for the Wales side and Michu is seeming to look like a steel at 2mil and he has scored 3 goals in two games and has a few assists to go with it. It seems that they are not missing Joe allen and Sigurdsson. Everton beating United, wow performance. I think Barcelona going to go full force this season. Good luck to Chiefs I hope for you it went well, will be watching that game.

  3. How amazing the opening weekend was. It had everything from Wonders<shocks and Horrors. Man U losing their first opening fixture in 20 years. Man City hitting a wall, a Southampton wall but narrowly managing to climb over it to a 3-2 victory. And wow Wes Brom Taking it to Liverpool. That was a well deserved win. I think this season is going to be the best season yet. Think these new sides are going to change the football game a bit

  4. The opening weekend was by far the best for me that I have seen in years. I really enjoyed seeing MANCHESTER UNITED lose to Everton. They are a team that deserves great thing and might just have that this year. I managed to watch the highlights and that Michu from Swansea looks dangerous but I predict he might run out of steam and just be another player to fade away.

  5. Manchester losing to Everton came as a big shock. i agree that Everton is a good team but they do lack that IT factor to actually do something big. I agree with you that Michu looks like he going to cause a lot of trouble in the midfield as well as causing defenders and keepers a lot of trouble. But I do not think he will fade away and if he does swansea has other players to pick up his slacks but if he does he wont be out of it for Long Laudrup will make sure of that
